Titanium 6246 Drillability from a Chip Formation Perspective
Keywords:
variance, drillabilityAbstract
Machinability is the root of the phrase "drillability," which is used in
reference to drilling. This work suggests an alternative interpretation of drilllability, namely
the creation of chips, which has never been seen before for titanium alloy 6246 material. The
fundamental understanding of this material's machinability, which has been scarcely known
up until now, will be expanded by this study. The following variables were thought to be
influencing the drillability: feed rate, cutting speed, drilling depth, cooling agent application,
and material heat treatment before drilling. The studies were designed using the Taguchi
method, and an analysis of variance was performed to determine how each parameter
affected drillability. The degree of segmentation is a measure of how easy chips are to break.
